RSSB Contractual
Teaching Associate
Recruitment 2026
Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has announced 3,540 vacancies for Contractual Teaching Associate posts under Rajasthan College Education Society (Raj-CES). Complete guide to eligibility, exam pattern, subjects, dates, salary, and how to apply.
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), Jaipur has officially released one of the biggest teaching recruitment notifications of 2026 — Advertisement No. 06/2026 for direct recruitment of Contractual Teaching Associates under the Rajasthan College Education Society (Raj-CES). With 3,540 vacancies spanning 32 academic subjects across Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Agriculture, this is a landmark opportunity for postgraduate candidates looking to build a teaching career at the college level in Rajasthan.
The recruitment is governed by Raj-CES Hiring of Man Power Rules, 2023, and the posts are equivalent in profile to Assistant Professor positions in government colleges. The notification was published on April 30, 2026, and the online application window is active from May 5 to June 3, 2026 — leaving limited time to prepare and submit.
Read every section of this guide carefully before applying. The eligibility criteria — particularly the NET/SLET/SET or PhD requirement — disqualifies many candidates who hold only a Master’s degree. Check your eligibility first.

3,540 Posts Across 32 Subjects
The vacancies are distributed across four broad discipline groups — Arts & Humanities, Science, Commerce, and Agriculture. Each subject has a defined vacancy count split across general and reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS). Horizontal reservations for Women, Ex-Servicemen, and Divyangjan are applicable as per Rajasthan government rules.
The Chairman of RSSB has also hinted at approximately 2,000 more L1 Teacher vacancies to be announced separately in a future notification. Candidates preparing for college-level teaching in Rajasthan should keep a close watch on the official RSSB website for further announcements.
OTR (One Time Registration) Fee
The application fee is paid as part of the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the Rajasthan SSO portal. If you have already completed OTR and paid the fee for a previous RSSB recruitment, you are NOT required to pay again — the OTR is a one-time payment linked to your SSO profile.
Payment can be made via Net Banking, ATM-cum-Debit Card, Credit Card, e-Mitra kiosk, or Jan Suvidha Centre. Keep your payment receipt/transaction ID safely — you will need it for future reference.
Written Examination Structure
The RSSB Teaching Associate exam consists of two objective-type (MCQ) papers, conducted via Computer Based Test (CBT), Tablet Based Test (TBT), or OMR sheet as decided by the board. Both papers must be attempted, and there is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer — do not guess randomly.
| Negative Marking | 1/3 mark deducted for each incorrect answer |
| Minimum Qualifying Marks | 36% in each paper individually AND 40% in aggregate |
| SC/ST Relaxation | 5% relaxation in qualifying marks — i.e., 31% per paper and 35% aggregate |
| Exam Mode | CBT (Computer Based Test) / TBT (Tablet Based Test) / OMR — as decided by RSSB |
| Syllabus | Subject-wise syllabus available in the official notification PDF; Paper 2 strictly based on PG-level subject knowledge as per UGC curriculum |
Given the 1/3 negative marking, accuracy matters more than speed. Paper 1 (Rajasthan GK) is the key differentiator for overall merit — candidates who score well here often leap up the merit list. Paper 2 tests deep subject-level knowledge: revise your Master’s degree syllabus comprehensively and refer to previous RSSB/RPSC question papers for subject papers.
How Candidates Are Selected
The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of written examination marks. There is no interview or viva-voce stage. Candidates who qualify the written exam and pass document verification and the medical examination are offered contractual appointment as Teaching Associates under Raj-CES.
Remuneration Structure
| Fixed Monthly Salary | ₹28,850/- per month (all subjects, all categories) |
| Nature | Fixed contractual remuneration — no pay scale, no DA/HRA/grade pay |
| Revision | Subject to revision as per Rajasthan Government orders from time to time |
| Pension / Gratuity | Not applicable (contractual post) |
| Leave Benefits | As per Raj-CES contractual rules — refer to official notification for details |
| Contract Renewal | Up to 3 years at a time on satisfactory performance, subject to availability of funds and society requirements |
While ₹28,850/month may seem modest for a postgraduate with NET/PhD qualification, the position offers valuable college-level teaching experience that directly strengthens your RPSC Grade-I (Assistant Professor) examination profile. Many successful RPSC Grade-I recruits gain their foundational teaching experience through Raj-CES contractual appointments. Think of it as a stepping stone, not a destination.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Visit sso.rajasthan.gov.in and complete your One Time Registration if not done already. This creates your master profile. Pay the OTR fee (₹600 or ₹400 depending on category) if you are a first-time registrant.
Use your SSO ID and password to log in. Always apply using your own SSO ID only — applications submitted through another person’s SSO ID are liable to be summarily rejected.
Under Citizen Apps (or the Employment section), click on “Recruitment Portal”. Search for or locate Advertisement No. 06/2026 — Teaching Associate (Contractual) under Raj-CES.
Choose your post code and subject preference with extreme care. Wrong subject selection cannot be corrected after submission. Cross-check your Master’s degree subject against the list of available posts.
Enter all required information — personal details, educational qualifications, NET/SET/PhD details, category, and contact information. Ensure all entries match your original documents exactly.
Scan and upload recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size. Keep digital copies of your educational certificates, NET/SET scorecard, category certificate, and Rajasthan domicile certificate (if applicable) ready for document verification.
Carefully review ALL details before clicking submit. Once submitted, many fields cannot be edited. After successful submission, an Application ID will be generated — save it. Take a printout of the completed application form and retain it for future reference.
Documents to Keep Ready
How to Prepare for the Exam
For Paper 1 — Rajasthan GK & General Knowledge
- Focus on Rajasthan History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economy, and Polity — this section is heavily weighted toward state-specific knowledge
- Refer to NCERT books (6th–12th) for general knowledge foundations
- Study Rajasthan-specific static GK: important dams, rivers, wildlife sanctuaries, folk music & dance, handicrafts, major historical events, and current affairs from the last 12 months
- Solve previous RSSB and RPSC Paper 1 question papers — the pattern and difficulty level are consistent across exams
- Follow Rajasthan government press releases and important state government schemes (Chiranjeevi, Jan Aadhar, etc.)
For Paper 2 — Subject-Specific Knowledge
- The syllabus for Paper 2 is based on UGC curriculum for your subject at postgraduate (MA/MSc/MCom/LLM/etc.) level
- Download the official RSSB Teaching Associate syllabus PDF from the notification and map it against your PG curriculum
- Refer to standard textbooks used in Indian universities for your subject — these form the basis of questions
- Practice UGC NET previous years’ question papers for your subject — the level of difficulty and topic coverage are highly comparable
- Focus especially on foundational, high-frequency topics rather than trying to cover every sub-topic
With the exam expected between August–October 2026 and applications closing June 3, you have approximately 10–15 weeks of preparation time post-application. Build a weekly study schedule from day one: 5 days on subject paper, 1 day on Rajasthan GK, 1 day for revision and mock tests. Candidates who prepare seriously from now have a genuine edge over those who wait.
