Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
The APSSB has kept the barrier to entry accessible, requiring only basic secondary education for most roles:
- All Posts (General): Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Specialized Posts: Candidates applying for Constable Band or Bugler must possess the basic Class 10 qualification plus practical knowledge/skill in playing the respective instruments.
2. Age Limit (As of April 10, 2026)
- Constable Posts (Civil/IRBn/Band/Bugler): 18 to 22 years.
- Fireman & Special Tiger Guard: 18 to 32 years.(Note: Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for APST candidates, with other relaxations as per government rules).
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The APSSB Combined Examination is a rigorous three-stage process:
Stage 1: Written Examination (200 Marks)
An objective-type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) test consisting of four sections. Candidates must secure a minimum of 33% to qualify for the next round.
- General Awareness: 50 Marks
- General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability: 50 Marks
- Arithmetical & Numerical Ability: 50 Marks
- English Language & Comprehension: 50 Marks
Stage 2: Physical Tests (PST & PET) + Trade Test
Candidates who clear the written exam (in a 1:3 ratio) will be called for the Physical Standard Test (height/chest measurements) and the Physical Efficiency Test (running, jumping). A specific Trade Test will also be conducted for Band and Bugler candidates.
Stage 3: Medical Fitness Test
