5. Three-Tier Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The SBI PO examination is notoriously rigorous, structured into three distinct phases. Candidates must clear each phase to progress to the next. The final merit list is curated by combining the scores of Phase-II and Phase-III.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

Phase-II: Main Examination

The Main Examination consists of an Objective Test for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after the conclusion of the Objective Test, requiring candidates to type their responses on the computer.

Selected officers receive generous allowances including D.A, H.R.A/Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical benefits, Leave Fare Concession, and contribution towards the New Pension Scheme (NPS). The total compensation per annum on a CTC basis can range from ₹13.00 Lakhs to upward of ₹21.97 Lakhs, heavily depending on the place of posting.

Service Bond Requirement: At the time of joining, the selected candidates will have to execute a Bond for a value of ₹2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lacs only) to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years.
